Seward Middle: State Champions of the Books Battle

Seward Middle School are the State of Alaska Battle of the Books champions, and won the 2021 competition today!

Congratulations to Coach Shelley Walker and her amazing team—three of the four team members have been competing in state competitions together since 4th grade!

Together we celebrate all the teams, and especially the Silver Salmon champion team of Emily Anger, Lucy Bamford, Makena DesErmia, and Maddy Haas

    Congrats to the LEMMings! It was a fierce competition amongst all of the well-qualified teams and the team from Seward Middle School is proud to bring the victory home to KPBSD. As a parent of one of the participants, I’d like to say a special thanks to the staff who make these opportunities available to our students. Thank you to Coach Shelly Walker, District Chair Karla Barkman, and former coaches Julie Doepken and Clay Ellsworth. You have all had a part in inspiring and leading these impressive, young ladies to this moment. All of our KPBSD children benefit from what you pour into them. Thank you!
